Honey Help With Cough Better than Cough Syrup?

Could it be? Honey, a sweet sugary substance can now help with cough and even with sleep. Well, a couple days ago, a research team at Penn State College of Medicine has found an interesting discovery. Honey may just work the same or better than over-the-counter medicine. They have been testing several children to see what the outcome might be. The results show that buckwheat honey might be the best in relieving symptoms rather than any other cough syrups. Knowing this can be very helpful especially for parents with kids under the age of six. Recent studies have shown that cold and cough medicines are not safe unless the child is above six years old. Due to the lack of effectiveness and side effects, doctors recommend to stay away from over-the-counter medications. Dr. Ian Paul, the lead researcher has warned not to give honey to infants of one year of age or younger because of the harmful risks such as infantile botulism. Honey not only helps with cough, children can now sleep soundly without getting up by their coughs. A food we all have can now serve as a safe and easier way to treat annoying and itchy coughs. There is only one question that has not been solved. Do all kinds of honey work just as effectively?

In my opinion, this discovery must be a big helper. Firstly, with a lot of the cough syrups recalled, it is a safer and more effective way to treat cough. Parents don't have to cautious so if there child/children took cough syrup because honey can't really hurt you. In addition, who doesn't like something sweet as medicine rather than the sour flavors they have nowadays. Now we can sleep peacefully without waking up just from a dry cough. I believe this is useful especially now during the winter.
