Extra Extra

The episode of Mythbusters I watched was called, "Hammer Bridge,Buried Alive, and Cola". However, I did my extra credit on Buried Alive. Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman were the main characters during this thrilling episode. The myth to "Buried Alive" was a woman fell into a coma and the Doctor had told her husband that she was dead, but he never believed him. Every night he dreamed his wife was scratching to escape. Days later when they opened the casket they found scratches on the inside of the coffin. In here they are trying to test how long a human being could survive in a coffin six feet underground. And Jamie is the one who is going in. Poor Jamie! This is very risky task that can kill someone in less than a couple of hours. Adam and Jamie went Casket shopping and decided buying a steel casket so the pressure of the dirt wouldn't cave in. to make sure nothing happened to Jamie the crew provided several things to keep him safe. For example, they had an emergency oxygen air pump, a nitrogen camera installed inside the casket, and meters to measure Jamie's blood oxygen level. In case he didn't have enough oxygen there was back up and Adam could also see what was going on through the camera. Before placing Jamie's casket into the chamber about to be filled with dirt, they double checked to make sure everything was a go. The episode used science because they had to measure Jamie's pulse, his blood oxygen level, and the carbon dioxide building up. If they hadn't used all this Jamie could have been dying inside without anyone even knowing. You need a science background to be working in a special effects career for several different reasons. You had to know what your working with in order to use the device. Science is something we see every day.
